Published: 13th October 2020
On 6 October, Dr Louise Newson took part in a health information webinar for Bupa staff to discuss the symptoms and treatment of the menopause, as well as how men and women can offer support to colleagues and family members during this time.
Dr Newson joined Bupa's internal expert Petra Simic, Clinical Director Primary Care to deliver the informative webinar to over 250 employees. During the hour long session, Dr Newson and Petra covered a range of menopause related topics and answered questions on the following subjects:
- What the menopause is and when it’s likely to happen
- Different stages of the menopause, including perimenopause
- Symptoms during the different stages, treatments and ways to get help
- What’s normal
- How men and women can support colleagues and family members
Speaking of the event, Petra Simic said "We were delighted by the positive response people had to the webinar. We had over 100 questions ahead of the session and positive engagement on the chat. Many found it informative and reassuring and I’ve had colleagues contact me after to thank us for speaking openly about menopause. It highlights how important it is for us to have conversations and help break the taboo."
