Guests gather to celebrate the launch of Dr Newson's first book about the menopause

Published: 17th September 2019

The evening of Friday 13th September was an exciting time for Dr Louise Newson and her team at Newson Health Menopause & Wellbeing Centre, Stratford-upon-Avon, when a special event was held to celebrate the publication of Dr Newson's first book, a Haynes Manual on Menopause - a definitive guide to help women, their partners and families cut through the plethary of misinformation and take a straightforward look at menopause.

More than 50 invited guests attended the event, including passionate menopause campaigners, Diane Danzebrink, founder of the #MakeMenopauseMatter campaign and Jane Lewis, author of My Menopausal Vagina, as well as members of the Newson Health team, Dr Newson's family and Louise McIntyre, Publishing Manager at Haynes.

Guests were treated to a beautiful, and very healthy, buffet provided by The Larder in Leamington Spa with a Divine Chocolate Cake by Emma Ellice-Flint, a recipe from her book, The Happy Hormone Cookbook.

Dr Rebecca Lewis spoke to the guests about Dr Newson's amazing achievements over the past 12 months, for her passionate drive for campaigning about better care for menopausal women and for developing the now well-established, and highly respected, Menopause and Wellbeing Centre. Louise McIntyre also spoke about how the idea for the menopause manual was developed over two years ago, and the hard-working journey to publication.

An emotional speech was given by Dr Newson herself, in which she thanked everyone for their unceasing help, acknowledging key members of her team and in particular recognising the support and encouragement she has, and continues to receive, from her family and close friends. Dr Newson explained how delighted she is that her book is the first Haynes manual to ever be in the top 100 on Amazon and will soon be sold in America and Australia and be translated into Russian and Turkish.
